Fit Foodie Denise Costello’s goal is to educate and motivate individuals to achieve and sustain an optimal level of health. In 1984, she received her BSN in Nursing from the College of Mount Saint Joseph and began her nursing career as a Captain in the Air Force where she served as a flight nurse in the Gulf War, health promotion officer and worked primarily in high risk obstetrics. The position as the health promotion officer leads her to University of Illinois to receive her MS in Exercise Physiology in July of 1991. Her focus throughout was to empower individuals with the knowledge of how to sustain a healthy lifestyle there by keeping them out of the hospital.
Denise moved to Winchester, MA, when she married her husband Peter. There she became involved in the creation of the Winchester Breast Care Center as the nurse coordinator.
With the birth of her children Denise became even more interested in gaining knowledge on how to keep her family healthy and protected from disease. Her belief is that the best place to start on your quest for health is in the kitchen.
While living in her hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana, she combined her love of cooking and health background and became the healthy cooking instructor for the students at Oak Farm Montessori School where her 3 children were attending. She began catering nutritious dishes for specialty events, obtained a yoga teaching certification and worked at Bel Santé Medical Spa where she developed and coached individuals through a successful weight management program addressing both body and mind.
Denise is passionate about motivating and educating busy overwhelmed individuals and families towards wellness. Now back in Winchester Denise has started her new business The Energized Body drawing from her life experiences as a mother and health professional to show you how to nourish with ease making you and your family an Energized Body and soul for life!
